Because I don’t have cable, I have to stream it from their website a day later. New shows air on Sundays.

I’m still in the middle of watching but paused to type a quick blog about this new word I learned from it. It’s particularly striking in the show because it’s intentionally repeated twice, and the main character even defined it for her blonde best friend. “Perspecacious [...] means insightful,” she says. Here’s what good ol’ Webster had to say about it:

  • Main Entry: per·spi·ca·cious
  • Pronunciation: \ˌpər-spə-ˈkā-shəs\
  • Function: adjective
  • Etymology: Latin perspicac-, perspicax, from perspicere
  • Date: 1640
  • : of acute mental vision or discernment : keen

I would just stick with Jane Bingham’s more understandable definition of insightful.

He was so surprised when I asked him what that meant. He told me that it stands for Kick A** Next Year. To him, it was the cool thing to write back in the day, aside from the classic H.A.G.S. I swear it’s just a Fort Worth thing. Since I have never heard of it, that meant that none of my friends have either, and I’m more from the Dallas side of DFW. I even asked my little brother if he’s ever heard of it, and he said no. He went to high school in Ellis County. Things like that make me wonder just who came up with these anyway?
